Enrolling a Windows 11 Pro Device

To setup a new Windows 11 Pro device with School management please follow the below steps:

1. Connect the device to a Wi-Fi network - In future this will be BS-Onboard from School but in this case please use BS-Guest

For the purposes of the trial - Your teacher has the guest wi-fi password and will enter for you. When the setup is complete the device will reconnect to BS-Secure.

If you do this from home then this would be your home Wi-Fi network.
2. Power on the device, the first page you get to will ask to select a country or region.
Please select United Kingdom.

3. Choose UK Keyboard Layout

4. Accept the License Agreement

5. IMPORTANT - Please name the device as your School username (i.e. 26BStudent):

The device will restart after pressing Next.

On the next screen you must choose 'Set up for work or school'

Enter your School email address on the next screen, you will be redirected to the School sign-in portal.

On this screen enter your password.

The device should now start provisioning itself, this step can take anywhere from 10 minutes to 45 minutes.

6. Let Microsoft apps access your location : Choose Yes
7. Find my device : Choose Yes
8. Send diagnostic data to Microsoft : Choose Include Optional
9. Improve Inking and Typing : Choose Yes
10. Get personalised offers from Windows : Choose Yes
11. The device will now install updates if required and reboot when finished.

12. After the laptop has rebooted you should get to this screen:

Press Sign in and enter your full School email address and password

13. On the next screen the account setup page will appear where assigned applications will install and School policies will apply to the device. This part can take up to 30 minutes to complete and the device may reboot.

14. On the next screen the device will ask you to setup Windows Hello, this is to allow the use of Biometrics or a PIN to sign in to save having to login with a password.

You will need to have Microsoft Authenticator downloaded to a mobile device to setup Microsoft 2-Factor Authentication, this is in addition to Google Authenticator used on School accounts.

You will be guided through setting this up.

Once complete the device will be at the desktop, Apps will take a little while to install and its a good idea to reboot the device after 30 minutes to finish the setup.
